On arrival, you will notice that the gates are shut. Please open and drive in there is plenty of space for cars. You will note that there is a sign on the gate which says 'OPEN' which we are 7days per week. The gates are shut because this is a farm and in the unlikely event of an animal escaping, the gates are kept shut for security.
Dicksonia antarctica and last winter
Just thought I'd mention that my tree fern 'died' last winter(2010/11) even though it was very well protected outside. It has been planted for ten years. The crown has remained firm and covered with the brown downy fur you would expect, but firm to the touch, not squashy and rotten like some. All the new shoots (and there were a lot) had gone black. I continued to water it every now and then but thought I was wasting my time. Yesterday 21st Aug, low and behold, stood a new emerging frond. So after a terrible winter and neglectful care, the tree fern still just about survives.......maybe yours has too?. It always pays to leave plants that seem dead, particularly tree ferns, cordylines and yuccas to see what happens later in the year. Now all I have to do is protect this fragile recovery through next winter....we shall see...
